The residency may support inquiry into questions such as:

 

– At what point does conducting begin within the development of a musical project?

– How does the conductor participate in artistic production before the first rehearsal?

– What kinds of knowledge are generated through score study, listening, planning, rehearsal, and performance?

– How are analytical insights translated into gestures, language, priorities, and collective action?

– How do infrastructures of production enable, limit, or redirect artistic possibility?

– How do rehearsal schedules, personnel, spaces, technologies, and institutional expectations shape interpretation?

– Which norms govern gesture, authority, fidelity, excellence, and professional conduct?

– When do established conventions create productive common ground, and when do they restrict inquiry?

– How is conductorial authority produced, recognized, contested, or redistributed?

– What happens when ensemble knowledge challenges the conductor’s analytical or artistic proposition?

– How can rehearsal function as an artistic, critical, relational, and research-based method?
